Pie Themed Play Dough Activity Tray

Create an inviting learning experience for preschoolers with this pie themed play dough activity tray! For our November tray, I grabbed red pom poms, cookie cutters, brown beads, apple accessories from the craft store, and a small jar/ramekin. This is a very versatile tray, and is especially fitting for the month of November!

STRENGTHEN HAND MUSCLES

This Pie Themed Play Dough Activity Tray will provide your child with the opportunity to strengthen their fine motor skills. All of the smashing, pinching, rolling, and manipulating of the play dough will engage their hand muscles. This is important for mastering tasks like doing buttons, zipping, and holding a pencil properly for writing.

MATERIALS FOR PIE THEMED PLAY DOUGH ACTIVITY TRAY

For this tray, I used my tried and true playdough recipe. It's incredibly easy to make, and after you’ve made it once…you will find yourself making it over and over. Not only is it super soft, but it’s also non-toxic. I added a little drop of cinnamon essential oil to give it a “pie scent,” and used green/red food coloring to make the brown color.

For the other items, I always look around the house to see what I already have first, and then use stores like Hobby Lobby, Dollar Tree, and Walmart to fill in the gaps. For this specific tray I used red/brown pom poms and beads from Dollar Tree, and apple accessories from Hobby Lobby. I grabbed the play dough rolling pin, tablespoon and jar from around the house.
